Stunning antique Napoleon III French First Communion boxed framed art with flowers. Truly a beautiful antique piece circa late 1800's.
This is a First Communion handmade piece from France like I have never seen before. Usually these are made with lace cards but this piece is completely hand made. I also NEVER find them in this size or condition. The shadow box frame includes a beautiful piece of heavy blue paper with gilt stars on it. In the center is a little girl whose dress has been hand cut and placed in such a way to give it depth. The girls face and hands appear to have been cut from a victorian die cut. In the girls hands are a paper candle and a bible. Behind the girl is a gold paper laced doily. On top of this are Victorian die cut flowers with a pink ribbon on the top. There is a paper folding technique used here to give the flowers the appearance of dept as well. Surrounding the girl are beautiful creamy silk, cotton and velvet layered flowers in near mint condition. The back of this piece is papered in a lovely floral wallpaper and there is a cord hanger for hanging this piece.
While the inside contents are near perfect the frame shows a little bit of wear. The glass is long missing from this piece but it can be replaced. This truly is a work of art showing how creative people were and still are today. The piece measures 14.5" x 11" x 3" with the depth being 3".
