Antique French religious corporal pouches, or bourches, are 19th- to early 20th-century liturgical envelopes used to hold the folded linen corporal cloth during the Catholic Mass. Often handmade with intricate embroidery, silks, and brocades, these pouches carried the chalice's cover from the sacristy to the altar, typically measuring around 9x9 inches.
