Superb 19th-century French porcelain benitier (holy water font) with the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the center. This is a magnificent piece in fantastic condition. There is a hole for hanging it. It measures 8.5" tall, 4.7" at its widest point, and 1.65" deep —a beautiful treasure with a lot of history. Stamped into the back is H. B. Choisy, but it looks like H. Choi's.
A "French water font H. Choi's" likely refers to a holy water font that is antique French, often made of porcelain, ceramic, bronze, or onyx, featuring religious imagery like Jesus or the IHS monogram, and potentially produced by a maker like "HB Porcelaine de Choisy" (H.B. Choisy), with "H. Choi's" being a slight misinterpretation of this prominent French manufacturer's mark. These decorative Catholic items were popular for home or church use.
While HB Porcelaine is rare, finding a Sacred Heart benitier is amazing.
