This French bee skep with its unusual square base is one of my favorites. The skeps (beehives made of straw are called skeps) with the wooden bases are the hardest to find. This is an original antique primitive French bee skep constructed from coiled rye straw and bound with strip willow. I can also see where it was wired. The Bee Skep is a lovely decorative feature inside or out and this one remains fully functional but I don't think I would use it. It is just to precious. This square skep measures approximately 14" x 18" with 14" being it's height. It is one of the largest skeps I have seen.
