This is a French metal award wreath decorated with detailed laurel and oak leaves. This item is a vintage French academic, institutional, or municipal prize crown (often referred to as a couronne de laurier/chêne d'académie), traditionally given as a prestigious award or civic honor in France during the late 19th or early 20th century.  It is crafted as a semi-circular wreath that blends highly textured oak leaves (representing civic strength, virtue, and endurance) with acorns. The ends are joined at the bottom by an ornate ribbon bow. The central plaque on the ribbon bow serves as an engraving plate for personalizing the award. The inscription "1er PRIX" denotes that it was awarded for achieving 1st Place in a regional, academic, or professional competition. It measures 6" long with the bow and 5" in diameter. The original round hanger is still intact on the back and ready to be hung.
