Exquisite, rare, collectable antique 1882 issue of the Almanach de France et du Musée des Familles, a French annual publication containing literature and general knowledge. It was published in Paris by the Société Nationale and distributed through the Librairie E. Plon, which specialized in historical and literary works. The cover features an intricate allegorical illustration depicting symbols of human knowledge, progress, and daily life, including a large open dictionary (Dictionnaire), globes, books, scientific tools, and a beehive symbolizing industry and collective work. Similar antique almanacs from this publisher are collected for their historical insights into 19th-century French culture and science. Printed just above the central engraving is the phrase: "Versez l'instruction sur la tête du peuple, vous lui devez ce baptême" ("Pour instruction over the heads of the people; you owe them this baptism"), a famous quote by Victor Hugo promoting public education. Marked at the bottom as 75 centimes (stamped near the publisher's address).
The binding is intact, and all the pages are present. This almanac measures 4.75" x 6".
