Antique cow bonefish game counters. These all date back to the late 1700s to the early 1800s. While we found these in France (probably by way of England), they were initially imported from China and used in card games. Early game tables even had depressions built into them to hold a player's pool of little fish chips. Many of these later ended up in sewing boxes for threadwinders. These are hand-carved, and the eyes and mouths are incised on both sides. They are quite tactile with a smooth, worn patina. Please note: these wee counters are NOT ivory and do not come from any endangered species. They were made from slivers of cow bone. These are mixed designs and are all assorted in different sizes.
