Wonderful 1805 - 1833 antique French blue paste paper books. These are just beautiful. Paste is one of the earliest methods used to decorate paper. It is a patterned or textured paper that is made by applying brushes and hand tools to wet paper that have been coated with a thin colored paste. The paper is often decorated with objects pressed into the paste mixture to form patterns. This technique has been used since the 16th century for decorative endpapers and cover papers. Paste paper is also used in bookbinding, furniture linings, and wallpaper. I haven’t made any in a long while and now I feel the urge to start again after seeing these colors. These are in fantastic condition given their age and they are getting harder and harder to find. These are originals from France. These are not reproductions. Keep each one as it is if you are a collector or take it apart for decoupage, altered art, mixed media and so much more. I have also use these books for wallpaper. One book can be used for so much.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ANTIQUE AND NOT A REPRODUCTION SO THERE IS WEAR AND TEAR COMMENSURATE WITH AGE.
