Antique 1800s French flowers. These flowers are from a church and at one time were used as candle holders. We were lucky enough to purchase an extensive collection of original church pieces. These ormolu florals were probably used in a display that could be easily assembled and disassembled depending on the season. At one time, the stems were screwed into the base of each flower. I did not clean or polish these. I prefer the current patina. This largest flower measures 4" wide and approximately 2.25" deep. The smallest flower is 2" wide and 1" deep. You are purchasing the entire set of three pieces.

Ormolu is the gilding technique of applying finely ground, high-carat gold–mercury amalgam to an object of bronze, and objects finished in this way. The mercury is driven off in a kiln, leaving behind a gold coating. The French refer to this technique as bronze doré; in English, it is known as gilt bronze.
