This is a beautiful 19th-century Globe De Mariee wedding stand base and floral arch. Traditionally, there would be a porcelain wedding vase at the base of the floral arch. The bottom of the vase would have a hole for attaching it to the base with a nut and bolt. Inside the vase would be another floral arrangement. Maybe the brides bouquet. These were traditionally also used to display the bride's wedding crown and/or the couple's rings. The entire piece was then placed under a glass dome for safekeeping.
This stand is in Wonderful condition. It is made with wood and the bottom has four feet on it to raise it up about .75". The arch on this features silk leaves and florals with waxed apple-blossom buds.
This is a darling handcrafted decorative piece from the 1800s. A timeless treasure and a fabulous display item that can still be used. There is aging to this piece, but given it is over 150 years, I am not surprised. The stand is 9.5" wide x 5" deep and stands about 11" tall, not including the base. This is a beautiful piece of history.
