This is a beautiful 19th century Globe De Mariee wedding stand base and floral arch. Traditionally there would be a porcelain wedding vase in the center of the base under the floral arch. The bottom of the vase would have a hole in it where it would attach to the base with a nut and bolt. Inside the vase would be another floral arrangement. Maybe the brides bouquet. These were traditinally also used for displaying the brides wedding crown and or the couple's rings. The entire piece was then placed under a glass dome for safe keeping.
This stand is in Wonderful condition. It is made with wood and the bottom has four feet on it to raise it up about .75". one of the feet on this piece has some wood missing but it stands just fine. The porcelain vase that woulld sit in the center is long gone but we do have some available in another listing. The arch on this has silk and velvet florals with waxed apple blossom buds.
This is a darling handcrafted decorative piece from the 1800's. A timeless treasure and a fabulous display item that can still be used. There is aging to this piece but but given it is over 150 years I am not surprised. The stand is 9" wide x 5.5" deep and stands about 11" tall. This is a beautiful piece of history.
