Wonderful 1800s antique French deckled-edge book. This antique book measures approximately 3.5” x 5.5 and is pale blue in color. This deckled-edge book is just fabulous. It is in fantastic condition given its age.
This 1841 edition of Le Moderne Secrétaire Français features a distinctive blue paper cover with intricate decorative borders. Published in Paris by Locard-Davi, the book contains letter templates and formulas for various social and professional correspondence. The title translates to "The Modern French Secretary," a common guidebook genre for drafting letters in the 19th century.
Books like this are getting harder and harder to find. This is an original from France. It is not a reproduction. Keep it if you are a collector, or take it apart for decoupage, altered art, mixed media, and so much more. I have also used these books for wallpaper. One book can be used for so much.
