Stunning antique French relic from the 1800's. This is an original piece. Beautiful and colorful tinted engraving of Saint Philomene or Saint Philomena. Philomena is the patron saint of infants, babies, and youth, and is known as "The Wonderworker". Little is known about the life of St. Philomena. However, it is believed she was a Greek princess who became a virgin martyr and died at 13-years-old.
Here we have a beautiful tinted engraving inside a metal frame. The glass is original and Is in near mint condition. I can see no cracks or chips. The black metal frame is showing signs of it's age but that is to be expected as it is 150+ years old. The back is black papered board and held in place with all of the original pins. There is a thread hanger on top which passes through the original metal tube where at one time I am sure a metal ring was.
This piece is in fantastic condition and is the perfect addition to any collection or the beginning of a new one. This religious relic measures 3" x 4" and it is meant to be hung on the wall. A lovely piece of history.
