Stunning antique Italian relic from the 1800's. This is an original piece.  Beautiful relic of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompei. Our Lady of Pompeii is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and devotion to her began in Pompeii, Italy in the late 1800s. The devotion is closely linked to devotion to the Rosary, and some believe that her intercession has led to many miracles.

Here we have a beautiful relic of the Blessed Virgin. In the center is a metal plague of the Blessed Virgin. I think it might be copper as while it is tarnished from age I can see parts of the original metal around the legs on the left and the right. The medal itself reads "M.SS DEL" on the upper left and ROSARIO on the upper right. Beneath the medal it reads "IN VALLE DI POMPEII". I think the outer frame is black gilt metal that has worn away over the years. There are a couple dents but overall the frame in in remarkable shape given it's age of 150+ years old. The back is metal and held in place with all of the original pins. There is a hole at the top for hanging.

This piece is in fantastic condition and is the perfect addition to any collection or the beginning of a new one. This religious relic measures 2.7" x 3" and it is meant to be hung on the wall. A lovely piece of history.
