What a gorgeous antique 1800s French paint box. The box lifts open to reveal several compartments with art supplies, and the top has a brass slide to hold the palette and paper behind it. The bottom has another brass slide that is held on a thicker board. The thicker board keeps everything on the bottom of the compartments from shifting. There are paints, a couple op brushes, some coal sticks a paint brush, a porcelain paint disk and a paper rubbing tool which I think is for the charcoal. The box is in SUPURB condition, with all its latches and hinges in place. I can see no issues with the box whatsoever. The paints are squishy, but I have no idea if they are good. but they can be used, although I didn't open them up, and the charcoal sticks are fine. There are also a couple of pieces of artwork that were behind the palette in the lid from the 1800s. I can find no markings on the box, and it measures 9" x 7" x 2.25".
