This is a relic Saint Colette. Saint Colette is known as a reformer of the Order of Saint Clare. They were also known as the Colettine Poor Clares, a reform branch of the Order of Saint Clare. She is honored as a saint in the Catholic Church due to a number of miraculous events claimed during her life. She is venerated as a patron saint of women seeking to conceive, expectant mothers, and sick children.

This particular relic is a traveling relic. It is a small wooden relic with a glass top. Inside is a cloth relic of Saint colette with her name above it on a paper strip. This is surrounded by paperolles. Paperolle in French is quilling in english. This is the art using strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create intricate designs. The tiny strips of paper are wound around a quill to create coil shapes. Then the coils is glued at the tip and at the base of the coil inside of a locket or small frame. The intricate designs include flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

This traveling Saint Colette relic measures 1" in diameter and is about .60" deep.  It is in FABULOUS condition and was made long ago. The glass is in mint condition. I can see no chips or cracks. We purchased this relic from an antique dealer in France and it is but one piece of the collection we were able to purchase.
