Extremely fine mid 1800's French royal intaglio seal fob pendant. Beautifully crafted this seal features a lovely lion and greyhound with a crowned coat of arms, stars and a crescent moon. The 9 branched crown corresponds to a count. This piece is vermeil, also known as “silver gilt”. This refers to high quality (pure or sterling) silver that is plated with a thin layer of gold. This particular seal is 24.3 grams. This seal is a true gem for collectors of vintage seals as well as collectors of antique jewelry. The seal matrix is about 1" in diameter and the entire piece is 1.5" tall. This piece is perfect to use as a seal and or wear as a piece of jewelry. Just a beautiful piece of history.
