Lovely antique French 1800s knob top glass domes. These are either venthouse or cupping domes.
In the 19th century, venthouse domes, often glass domes, were used to protect and display collections of objects like butterflies or flora and fauna specimens, shielding them from dust, soot, and insects while remaining visible. Today most people use these for small decorative items like jewelry or a wax seal.
Cupping domes would have been used to 'treat' a range of ailments and are still used today.
These measure approximately 3" x 2.25" and are in fabulous condition.
