Lovely antique French 1800s finial top glass domes. These are either venthouse or cupping domes.
In the 19th century, venthouse domes, often glass domes, were used to protect and display collections of objects like butterflies or flora and fauna specimens, shielding them from dust, soot, and insects while remaining visible. Today most people use these for small decorative items like jewelry or a wax seal. I use mine for so many things depending on the season.
Cupping domes would have been used to 'treat' a range of ailments and are still used today.
These are particularly lovely because of the finial glass top. They are simply beautiful and a rare find. They measure approximately 3.5" x 2.5" and are in fabulous condition.
