Beautiful antique French art from the 1800's. This is a wonderful 19th-century painted portrait behind glass. While it came from France I am getting an Italian feeling from this piece. This is a painted portrait behind oval glass in a brass frame. The glass and frame are in mint condition. The frame was then sunk into a dark scarlet velvet. This was then placed in a wooden gilt gesso frame. The frame while damaged is still a thing of faded grandeur. The back of the piece is covered in black paper and there is a brass hanger at the top. I thought about opening the back of the frame but as you can see from the pictures it hasn't been opened so I chose to leave it in its original condition. On the back, there is also what appears to be a name but I can't read it all. I think it reads "Compte de ?". I wish I had more information on this piece but I don't.
