Extremely fine and RARE 1700's French Count crown coat of arms seal. Beautifully crafted this seal features a hound under a coat of arms topped with a 9 branched crown. The 9 branched crown corresponds to a count. This matrix in this piece is bronze. Bronze is an alloy typically composed of brass and tin. Antique bronze contains more brass than tin. New bronze is about 88% tin. Older bronze has a much high quality of brass to tin ratio. The handle of the seal is wood. Maybe walnut and I think it was added later due to its perfect condition.
This seal is a true gem for collectors of vintage seals as well as collectors of antique jewelry If you want to reproduce it. The seal matrix is about .75" x .7" x 2.75". This piece is perfect to use as a seal. Just a beautiful piece of history.
